Since 1881, Pio Cesare has worked dedicatedly to establish Barolo as one of Italy's most prominent wines. Grapes from areas such as Ornato, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra and Novello contribute to creating the authentic Barolo style. The grapes undergo skin contact and maceration for 25-30 days, after which the wine is aged in both small French barriques and larger barrels. After around 30 months in barrel, the wine is blended. It is characterised by an intense tannin structure and a juicy fruit flavour. When the wine is young, it is recommended to air it for 3-4 hours before serving. After 5-6 years in bottle, it develops an elegance that can rival the finest wines of Burgundy. It is an excellent choice for veal, hearty pasta dishes and simmered dishes with game and mushrooms.
