Barbaresco Gaia-Principe is made from carefully selected grapes, which are first destemmed and crushed. They then undergo a cool pre-maceration for three days in a cement vat. The fermentation process takes place without temperature control, with regular pump-overs and punch-downs, followed by a post-maceration of 21 days. The wine is aged for 24 months in used French barriques.
The scent is light and perfumed with nuances of dryness, smoke, violets, rose petals, leather, balsamic oil and forest floor. The fruity notes include bright cherries, strawberries and raspberries with a slight sweetness, as well as vegetable stock, sour milk, fennel and subtle woody notes of vanilla and milk chocolate.
The palate presents crushed raspberries, cranberries and currants with a light bitterness and a very direct fruit profile that makes the wine youthful and lively. The crisp tannins add extra structure. An excellent wine. 94 points.
