This rare wine comes from one of the most prestigious terroirs in Nuits-Saint-Georges – the 1er Cru Les Boudots , which borders Vosne-Romanée and shares many of the elegant qualities of this region. The vines are old ( Vieilles Vignes ), which contributes great depth, concentration and complexity. The 2001 vintage now has over two decades of development behind it and stands out as a mature Burgundy of the absolute top class.

In the glass, the wine appears brick red with a beautiful, ripe edge. The nose is complex and developed with layers of dried cherries, ripe strawberries, truffle, leather, tobacco, forest floor and spicy notes of pepper and clove. Behind lies a touch of violet and subtle barrel notes of vanilla and cedar.

The palate is silky and harmonious with ripe tannins that blend elegantly with the fruit. The acidity is still lively and provides freshness, while deep secondary aromas of forest floor, mushrooms and spices unfold in the mouth. The finish is long, persistent and characterized by a refined minerality and an earthy elegance that is characteristic of the best wines from the Côte de Nuits.

A wine with great personality and mature complexity that deserves to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. It is perfect with hearty dishes such as game, beef, mushroom dishes and mature cheeses – but can also be enjoyed alone as an experience in itself.
