Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection 2017

Caymus is a respected winery located in Napa Valley, known for their Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon since 1972. The Wagner family is behind the production of wines characterized by a deep, fruity flavor with ripe tannins. These wines offer aromas and flavors of cocoa, blackcurrant, ripe berries and vanilla. They can be enjoyed young, but can also be aged to develop a cedar bouquet and more complex flavors.

Caymus places great emphasis on vineyard selection, farming methods and winemaking techniques to achieve high quality. They grow Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on approximately 140 hectares spread across eight of Napa Valley's sixteen sub-appellations. Their vines produce two types of Cabernet Sauvignon wines: "Special Selection" and "Napa Valley". The older vines play a crucial role in the winery's success. The wines have a texture with tannins that are at the same time silky smooth. Pruning the vines, optimal sunlight to the fruit zone and increased ripeness are part of Caymus' methods.

Caymus is only releasing "Special Selection" this year, where the grapes are of special quality, and this wine is matured for 16 months in French oak barrels.
