Crozes Hermitage Rouge 2016 from Paul Jaboulet

This Crozes Hermitage Rouge from Domaine de Thalabert is made from Syrah grapes originating from an estate that has been in the possession of Paul Jaboulet Aîné since 1834. The vines are between 40 and 60 years old and produce a low yield of 25-30 hl/ha. The grapes are hand-picked and transported gently to minimize the risk of oxidation. The wine undergoes fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks and matures for a year in oak barrels after malolactic fermentation. It presents itself with a deep red color and aromas of cherries, wild berries and liquorice. The taste is complex with nuances of wild plums, spices and tar. Ideal to serve with lamb, game or beef cooked with onions, garlic and mushrooms.
