Montes Alpha Purple Angel Colchagua 2019

Montes was established in 1988 with the goal of creating Chile's finest wines. Montes' wines are recognized for their excellent quality, achieved through a carefully controlled production process.

Vineyards

The grapes for Purple Angel come from Montes' vineyards located in Apalta and Marchigüe in the Colchagua Valley. Apalta is known for its slopes, which provide optimal sunlight and ripening. The cool sea breezes and low night temperatures help preserve the grapes' aromas and acidity. Marchigüe benefits from cooler temperatures due to its proximity to the sea. The vineyards use a double guyot system, which promotes fruit ripening and reduces the risk of fungal diseases.

Year 2019

The 2018-2019 growing season was characterized by low rainfall and a mild winter. The cool and dry growing season helped preserve the freshness of the grapes. The harvest started on May 2nd under ideal conditions, resulting in healthy, high-quality grapes.

Winemaker's notes

The grapes were hand-picked and cold-pressed for seven days to extract aromas and colour. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled steel tanks for 12-15 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. 8% Petit Verdot was added to provide extra spice, structure, colour and acidity.
