Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest wine-producing commune in the Côte de Nuits with around 410 hectares of vineyards, all planted with Pinot Noir. The area is home to 9 Grand Cru vineyards and 25 Premier Cru vineyards, several of which are of excellent quality. There are also plots that are often considered to be at the level of Premier Cru. In Burgundy, the name of the producer is as important as the geographical origin of the wine.

Lucien le Moine, established by Rotem and Mounir Saouma in 1999, is known for its uncompromising approach and innovative methods. The couple, with roots in Israel and Lebanon, share a deep passion for Burgundy and its grapes, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. After studying oenology in Montpellier and working as a cellar master in Israel, Mounir moved to Burgundy in 1995. Here, he worked as a cellar master for a major negociant and developed the idea for Lucien le Moine: to acquire top wines from selected producers and vinify them in his own cellar in Beaune. The wines are aged exclusively in new oak barrels from Burgundy.

Lucien Le Moine Chambertin “Clos de Bèze” Grand Cru 2022 is a rare and impressive red wine from Burgundy , specifically from the famous Grand Cru vineyard Clos de Bèze in Gevrey-Chambertin , Côte de Nuits. The wine is created by the uncompromising micro-négociant house Lucien Le Moine , known for working with very small quantities, natural vinification and long, patient barrel aging in the finest barriques.

This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir and represents the best that Burgundy has to offer: depth, elegance, complexity and world-class aging potential.

Flavor profile:

Color : Clear, ruby red with a vibrant shine – young but intense.

Scent : A focused and deeply aromatic nose with layers upon layers of red and dark berries (cherries, blackberries, raspberries), violets, incense, forest floor, discreet barrel spice and a floral touch.

Taste : Silky and precise with high concentration, nice acidity and ripe, fine tannins. The taste develops in layers – first fruit, then spices, minerality and finally a remarkable finesse.

Aftertaste : Long, complex and almost endless – with elegance rather than power.

Class of 2022:

2022 was a very successful vintage in Burgundy: warm but balanced, with exceptional fruit quality and good acidity. Lucien Le Moine chose low yields and long aging, resulting in a wine with both drinking pleasure in its youth and the potential to age for decades .

Suitable for:

Perfect with fine meat dishes , especially game, veal, pigeon , dishes with truffles , or aged cheeses such as comté, brillat-savarin or epoisses. Should be served with respect and preferably for a special occasion.

Serving:

Serve at 16–17 °C and decant for 1–2 hours to open up the wine's many layers.

Lucien Le Moine Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2022 is a wine with great personality – a wine to collect, enjoy and remember. A true gem from Burgundy's most mythical vineyards.
