This Valpolicella Superiore wine is in a class of its own and surpasses many Amarones. It is made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes, grown on 2.5 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 250 meters. The vines are between 15 and 20 years old and yield only 800 grams of grapes per plant. The grapes are hand-picked in October and undergo a drying process of 30 days. The wine is then aged for 24 months in American oak barrels and matured for a further 6 months in the bottle. Annual production is limited to 20,000 bottles.
The wine presents itself with a deep ruby red color and offers aromas of ripe dark fruits, vanilla, spices and raisins. It is full-bodied and has a structured body with a persistent aftertaste. For the best experience, the wine is served at 16-17 degrees and should be decanted for 2-3 hours. It is ideal with simmered dishes, beef, game, mature cheeses and Christmas duck.
