Dominio De Pingus 2021, Ribera Del Duero

Pingus is a legendary wine that every Danish wine enthusiast should try. In recent years, the wine has become clearer and more lively. To protect against frost and ensure future production, Peter Sisseck has invested in ventilation systems.

Tim Atkin, a British Master of Wine, has a deep understanding of the wines of Ribera del Duero. His September 2023 report, "Ribera del Duero Top-100", presents the hierarchy of the district based on tastings of 578 wines from 181 wineries. Vega Sicilia, Dominio de Es and Pingus are among the top of the list.

The grapes for Pingus 2021 were harvested from the "San Cristobal" and "Barrosso" fields, which were planted in 1929. Peter Sisseck is experimenting with vinifying whole bunches of grapes, and in 2021 a quarter of the bunches were used. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, and in 2021 the aging time in small barrels was reduced to 12 months.

Known for his tireless pursuit of perfection, Peter Sisseck has a unique ability to transform grapes into something extraordinary. The Pingus 2021 is described as deeply colored with a fresh aroma of blue fruits and a balanced taste with complex tannins. Sisseck estimates that the 2021 edition is on par with the famous Pingus from the year 2000.
