Domaine Kuheiji Fixin Village 2021

Domaine Kuheiji Fixin 2021 is a characterful red Burgundy from the Fixin appellation in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits. The wine is created by Kuheiji Kuno – the Japanese winemaker who, with his background in sake production, works with extreme precision and sensitivity in winemaking. The result is a wine that combines the natural power and structure of the area with a refined, almost Zen-like elegance.

In the glass, the wine appears deep ruby ​​red. The bouquet is complex and expressive with ripe red and dark berries – cherries, blackcurrants and blackberries – merging with floral notes of violets and roses, as well as subtle hints of pepper, forest floor and minerality.

The taste is intense and elegant with a distinctive structure, which is typical of Fixin. The ripe tannins are firm but well-balanced, and the fresh acidity gives the wine a lively energy. The fruit is concentrated and precise, and the aftertaste is long and persistent with a combination of fruit, spice and mineral nerve. This 2021 vintage has a classic expression with coolness and elegance, which gives a great aging potential.

Domaine Kuheiji Fixin 2021 is a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth after a little aeration, but will especially benefit from 5–10 years in the cellar. It is an excellent companion to beef fillet, lamb, game or rustic mushroom dishes.
