Cascina Ballarin Barolo "Bussia" 2016

Cascina Ballarin has a plot on the famous Bussia Cru in Monforte d'Alba. With a limited production of around 1,600 bottles per vintage, this wine sells out quickly. The south-facing plot was planted in the 1970s with around 5,000 vines per hectare, resulting in few but highly concentrated grapes.

Barolo Bussia is produced in temperature-controlled tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 26 months in French barriques, 15% of which are new, and then for a further 8 months in bottle.

Barolo Bussia presents itself with a deep red color and a slight orange tinge. The aroma and taste are rich with complex notes of violets, blackcurrants, almonds, spices and chocolate. The finish is long and well-balanced with a fine harmony between sweetness, fruit and strength. This wine is of high quality and great elegance. When young, it is ideal with beef, lamb or game, and with age it goes well with strong cheeses.
