Boplaas Cape Vintage Port 2022

Boplaas Cape Vintage Port 2022 is a South African fortified wine from Boplaas Family Vineyards in Calitzdorp, taking inspiration from the traditional port wines of the Douro Valley, Portugal.

Grape composition: The wine is made from classic Portuguese grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional , Tinta Barocca and Souzão .

Tasting notes:

• Color: Deep purplish black.
• Aroma: Powerful notes of cherry, plum, blackberry, violets, pepper, spices and dark chocolate.
• Taste: Rich and full-bodied with ripe tannins and well-integrated alcohol, giving a persistent and pleasant aftertaste.

Production: The grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness with a yield of 5 tonnes/ha from both young Touriga Nacional vines and older Tinta Barocca vines, planted in 1968. After a traditional vinification process, fermentation is stopped by the addition of grape spirit to preserve the residual sweetness and increase the alcohol content. The wine is aged to develop complexity while maintaining its fresh and fruity character.

Alcohol content: Around 14.5%.

Serving suggestion: This wine is ideal on its own or with desserts such as chocolate cake, fruit tarts or mature cheeses. It can also be served slightly chilled as an aperitif.
