Trabucchi d'Illasi Amarone della Valpolicella 2012 is a refined and deeply concentrated red wine from the classic Amarone region of Veneto, Northern Italy. Made from organically grown grapes, it expresses everything that makes Amarone one of Italy's most iconic wines - power, elegance and complexity in perfect balance.
Grape varietiesThe wine is created from the traditional Valpolicella grapes: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara . The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected to ensure perfect ripeness and health.
ManufacturingAs is classic for Amarone, the grapes are dried (“appassimento”) for 3-4 months after harvest. This process concentrates both sugar, aromas and tannins. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 24 to 36 months in French oak barrels and then further in bottle before release.
FragranceThe scent is intense, deep and complex , with layers upon layers of aromas: ripe cherries, prunes, dried figs and raisins, combined with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, tobacco, cinnamon and vanilla. A touch of balsamic and leather gives the scent extra depth.
TasteThe palate is full-bodied, powerful and silky , yet harmonious and balanced. The dried fruits and dark berries go hand in hand with spicy notes and a slightly bitter touch of cocoa and walnut. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated, and the acidity provides enough freshness to lift the wine's rich structure. The finish is long, warm and intense , with persistent notes of fruit and spice.
Food matchThis Amarone is perfect with game, roast beef, lamb, braised dishes, strong cheeses – or simply as a meditation wine to enjoy slowly in good glasses.
