Thornæs Danish Single Malt Whisky - First Release

As the name suggests, First Release is the very first launch of Thornæs Single Malt Whisky. This edition represents a piece of Thornæs' history, carefully selected from their warehouse of maturing whiskies.

First Release is a Double Cask that has spent its first 13 months in new Danish oak and then up to 25 months in a bourbon barrel of white American oak.

The maturation in Danish oak has taken place in small 50 litre casks, which has given the whisky a solid base with lots of toffee and warm spices, as well as a complexity with notes of pepper and mild tobacco. The subsequent large 250 litre hogshead bourbon cask has added mild notes of vanilla and caramel, giving a more rounded and harmonious flavour profile.

Each bottle is numbered and only 314 bottles have been produced.

Malt: Danish organic barley malt
