Rupert & Rothschild Baroness Nadine Chardonnay 2011 is a sophisticated and nuanced white wine from the Western Cape, South Africa, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. Named after Baroness Nadine de Rothschild, this wine is the result of a collaboration between the Rupert and Rothschild families.

Vinification

The grapes were carefully hand-picked from late January to mid-March 2011, with an average yield of 7 tons per hectare. Only the free-flowing must from whole bunches was used. 20% of the must was fermented and matured in concrete tanks, while the rest was fermented in stainless steel tanks and then matured in French oak barrels for 11 months, one third of which were new barrels.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Fresh, flinty aromas with notes of lemon blossom and pear, complemented by persistent mineral tones.

Taste: Crisp with lemon tones, subtle nuances of grapefruit and smooth, creamy nougat notes, followed by persistent undertones of macadamia nuts.

Food pairing

This Chardonnay is ideal with grilled fish, fresh oysters and rich fish dishes such as salmon or tuna. It also goes well with dishes such as pasta aglio olio and creamy cheeses such as cheddar and gruyère.
