Rio Mazos is a remarkable wine from Rioja, made exclusively from Graciano grapes from vineyards planted in 1930. The grapes are hand-picked and only the finest are selected for production. The wine is fermented in open cement tanks and matured for 12 months in new French oak barrels.
The wine presents a deep ruby red color and offers intense aromas of black berries, raspberries, oak, leather, cedar, vanilla and pepper. The taste is full-bodied with a refined structure, a nice acidity and ripe tannins. The aftertaste is both long-lasting and complex.
It should be served at 16-18 degrees and is an excellent choice with lamb, game, stews or dark meat. The wine can be enjoyed now after a few hours of aeration, but will also develop further with aging for a few years.
