Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba 2022

Pio Cesare's wine shows how, with careful prioritization and patience, a complex food wine based on the Barbera grape can be created. This wine is made from the finest Barbera grapes from vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba, Sinio, Diano d'Alba and Grinzane Cavour.

Harvested manually, the wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation with 15 days of skin contact to achieve extra depth and tannin. 70% of the wine is matured in large French oak barrels, while the remaining 30% is aged in small 225-liter barriques for 12 months.

The wine presents a deep inky color and an aroma of violets, currants, blackberries, licorice and roasted cocoa beans. The taste is intense and fruity with a pronounced acidity that adds precision, juiciness and balance.

The wine offers an intense aroma of ripe red berries such as cherries and plums, complemented by delicate spice notes and a touch of vanilla from the barrel aging. The taste is full and harmonious with a fresh acidity, soft tannins and a long, fruity aftertaste.
