Neil Ellis Grenache Piekenierskloof 2015 3L is a fine wine from the renowned Piekenierskloof area, renowned for its excellent Grenache. The vines, planted back in 1954, thrive in the Table Mountain sandstone soil. The grapes were picked on March 27th at a ripeness of 24.7° Balling. The fermentation process began in steel tanks and was completed with malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The wine matured for 19 months in barrels, of which 20% were new, 20% were second fills and 60% were older 500 liter barrels. It was bottled in August 2016. The 2015 vintage presents a deep color, notes of dark cherries, delicate floral aromas, as well as a fresh and persistent taste with richness and fine tannins.
