Maynard's Colheita 1971 is a rare and iconic Tawny Port that has matured in cool cellars to develop its complex aromas. This wine was discovered by Álvaro Van Zeller in an old family cellar in the Douro and marks 50 years of aging in wooden barrels.
Tasting notes: The wine has a mahogany color with golden hues. It offers spicy aromas and a fragrant, multidimensional character. The palate is rich and velvety with nuances of molasses, dried apricots and jam, balanced by a persistent acidity. The finish is long and sumptuous.
Storage and serving: The wine is aged in small casks and does not require decanting. It should be stored in a dark and cool place at 12-15ºC and served slightly chilled. Should be enjoyed within 4-6 weeks of opening.
Food pairing: Perfect on its own or with desserts such as chocolate, hazelnut and pear cake. It also goes well with strong cheeses such as Grana Padano.
