Kopke Vintage 2016 is an exceptional vintage that has the potential to become one of the most recognized. The grapes for this wine come from the oldest plots at Quinta São Luíz, located close to the Douro River, where half of the vines are over 75 years old. The wine consists primarily of Touriga Nacional (approximately 50%), with the addition of Sousão, Tinta Franca and Tinta Roríz.

The wine is intense and concentrated, with a sweet fruitiness perfectly balanced with ripe tannins. It presents itself in a deep blue-violet color and offers aromas of licorice, elderberry, blueberry and complex slate notes. The taste is full-bodied, with a remarkable viscosity and a long finish.

Kopke, known for their Tawny wines, has made significant progress with their Ruby wines since the 2000s. Kopke Vintage 2016 stands strong among the best vintage ports from this vintage.

The wine can be enjoyed young, where it displays a rich, fruity sweetness and a solid structure. It is recommended to decant the wine thoroughly if drunk in its youth.
