Cups Harvest 1965

Kopke is renowned for their exceptional tawny wines, and their Colheita range is no exception. These wines achieve an ideal balance of complex acidity that is not dominated by sweetness. Half a century ago, this wine was pressed in granite lagares in the Douro Valley and then transported to Vila Nova de Gaia, where it has matured in large, old oak barrels for 50 years before being bottled and made available for sale.

Years in barrel have transformed a dark, young port into a masterpiece with a rich palette of dried fruit, oxidative notes and barrel-aged aromas that leave a lingering aftertaste. Such a wine is a worthwhile investment.

The aroma is intense with nuances of raisin, smoke, nuts, lemon peel, bitter orange and powdered sugar, bound together by alcohol and volatile acidity. The taste is also intense with a long-lasting aftertaste that can be enjoyed for several minutes.

This wine is perfect as both a dessert wine and a digestive and should be served in a good white wine glass at a temperature of 12-14 degrees.
