Vin de Constance is an iconic dessert wine, scoring 98 points and known for its great aging potential. It offers a harmonious balance between alcohol, acidity and sweetness. The 2019 vintage is made from grapes picked over a month at varying levels of ripeness, resulting in a complex aroma of grape marmalade, white peaches, honey and melon. The wine is full-bodied and creamy with a well-balanced acidity that gives an almost “dry” feel in the mouth. It has been aged in both new and used oak barrels for around three years and can be stored for many years. We expect the wine to reach its peak around 2060, but it is already a pleasure to drink now.

Vin de Constance was for many years the sweet wine of choice among royalty and nobility, and was considered superior to even Chateau d'Yquem. Production resumed in 1980 by the Jooste family at Klein Constantia. The bottle is specially designed to imitate the original, and the grapes are hand-picked from vineyards planted with the Muscat de Frontignan grape. The wine is regaining its former status, and it receives high praise from reviewers for its high quality. Prices are still reasonable, but this may change in the future.

Klein Constantia is located in the South African coastal area of ​​Constantia, where the sea breeze cools the vines and creates a milder climate. The area was designated as a wine region by Simon Van der Stel in 1685. After his death, the area was divided, and Klein Constantia became part of it. The wine achieved world fame and was mentioned in the works of authors such as Dickens and Austen.
