Keet First Verse is one of South Africa's most acclaimed Bordeaux blends, created by Christopher Keet , former winemaker at the legendary Cordoba. The wine is produced in small batches and is always an expression of high precision, balance and terroir. The 2019 vintage appears classic, elegant and with great aging potential.

In the glass it shows a deep, dense ruby ​​red colour . The nose is complex and layered with blackcurrant, cherry and blackberry , complemented by nuances of cedar, pencil lead, dried herb, graphite and a touch of violet . There is also a subtle minerality that adds extra depth.

The palate is intense yet refined – with a core of ripe dark fruit, fine tannins and a fresh acidity that creates harmony and length. The barrel ageing adds elegant notes of dark chocolate, mocha and spices , without overpowering the fruit. The finish is long, structured and silky , with the potential to develop beautifully over the next 10–15 years.

Grape composition (Bordeaux blend):

Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot

Style: Classic, elegant and terroir-driven – a wine often compared to the best Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé, but with South African warmth and maturity.

Perfect for: Beef tenderloin, lamb, game, mushroom dishes or mature firm cheeses. It is ideal for both gastronomy and slow maturation in the cellar.

Alcohol content: approximately 14.5%

Aging: 18–24 months in French oak barrels (mainly new and 2nd year barrels)
