Kanonkop Pinotage, Black label 2016

Kanonkop is a renowned winery in South Africa, run by brothers Paul and Johann Krige. The name comes from a hill on the Simonsberg mountain where cannon shots in the 17th and 18th centuries heralded the arrival of ships into Table Bay.

Kanonkop Pinotage, Black Label 2016, is an exclusive single-vineyard wine on the Kanonkop Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Made exclusively from grapes from some of the estate's oldest Pinotage vines, planted in 1953, this wine truly showcases the potential of the Pinotage grape.

Tasting notes :
Black Label 2016 presents a deep and intense aroma of black cherries, blackberries and plums, complemented by delicate notes of spices, tobacco and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is both powerful and silky, with perfectly balanced tannins and remarkable depth. The finish is long and complex with hints of vanilla, mocha and a subtle earthy character.

Serving :
This wine pairs perfectly with rich meat dishes such as grilled duck, braised lamb, beef tenderloin or spicy stews. It can also be enjoyed on its own for a unique taste experience. Serve at 16-18 degrees to highlight the wine's finesse and intensity.
