With the 21st edition of Pingus, Peter Sisseck has created a wine that exudes remarkable richness, freshness and harmony. The grapes come from south-facing vineyards located at an altitude of 800 meters. The 2015 vintage was characterized by heat and drought, which resulted in an earlier harvest and a larger grape production. During the harvest and in the wine cellar, the grapes are carefully sorted, fermented in wooden barrels without the addition of yeast, and matured in used Burgundy barrels for 20 months. The wine is bottled without fining or filtering.
The finished wine offers exotic aromas of violets, blackberries, cherries, figs, withered roses, dried fruits, mocha, caramel, mushrooms and forest floor. It is full-bodied and seductive with soft tannins wrapped in fruit and spices. The wine sets new standards for finesse and elegance in Ribera del Duero.
