On April 28, 2017, Flor de Pingus 2017 quickly sold out due to frosty weather that significantly reduced the harvest. According to Peter Sisseck, this vintage has a beautiful color, intensity and freshness, which is due to the early harvest. Production was 47% less than the previous year, which has made the wine a sought-after collector's item with high prices at auctions.

The wine is made from grapes from vineyards close to the plots that also supply Pingus. The vines are between 40 and 60 years old, which gives the wine a distinct minerality. Sisseck experiments with whole bunches of grapes that ferment in 2,000 liter oak barrels. The wine is then matured for 14 months in a combination of new and used French barrels and bottled without fining or filtering.

Flor de Pingus reflects Pingus in both quality and style. The wine is powerful and full-bodied with notes of plums, violets, spicy herbs and warm spices from the barrels. It has a fresh and salty minerality that balances the impressive tannins.
