Domaine Remi Jobard Monthelie 1er Cru 'Les Vignes-Rondes' 2018

Monthelie 1st Cru "Les Vignes Rondes" is a sophisticated red wine from a vineyard located east of Monthelie, close to Volnay and Meursault. The soil consists of limestone, red clay and marl, which gives the wine both structure and charm.

Rémi Jobard harvests the grapes, which are grown organically, by hand and undergoes a careful selection. The fermentation process takes place at low temperatures with the grapes' natural yeast cells, first in outdoor fermentation tanks and then in the cellar in Austrian demi-muids (600 l., 25% new) from Stockinger. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels and bottled without filtration.

The wine presents itself with a deep, garnet red hue and a fruity, refined aroma. The taste is characterized by a fine balance between depth, freshness and elegance. Over time, it develops complex notes of dark berries and forest floor.

It should be served at 12-14 degrees and goes perfectly with grilled or roasted duck, lamb, beef or game birds, preferably accompanied by wild mushrooms, currants or cranberries.
