Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of the most renowned wine producers in Burgundy, established at the beginning of the 20th century by Etienne Camuzet. The vineyard encompasses some of the most prestigious parcels, including prime areas of the Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot.
After Etienne Camuzet's death, the vineyards were taken over by his daughter, Maria Noirot. When she passed away without heirs in 1959, the estate passed to Jean Méo. He continued to employ skilled field workers and winegrowers, among them the famous winemaker Henri Jayer. Jayer was known for focusing on lower yields, using cold maceration, and avoiding pumps and filtration to preserve the unique character of the wine.
In 1985, Domaine Méo-Camuzet began selling their wines directly from the estate, and in 1988, Jean Méo took over responsibility for the vineyards.
