Empordà is a charming wine region in Spain, located close to the French border in the Pyrenees. The area benefits from a Mediterranean climate, offering warm summers and mild winters. The vineyards here often extend into France. One of the most renowned wine houses in Empordà is Clos d'Agon, where Peter Sisseck has served as a consultant since 1998. The Mas Gil winery, founded by a group of Swiss friends, produces wines under the DOC Empordà classification.

The soil of Empordà is characterized by its nutrient-poor composition of granite fragments, rocks and limestone. Among the typical grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Mouvedre. The house's white wines are made from Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier, while the red wines consist of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

Clos d'Agon wines are known for their powerful character, making them ideal for food. They have an international style with a warm Spanish touch. The wines present a deep garnet red color and offer fruity notes, toasted aromas and balsamic nuances. They are complex, elegant and full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a refreshing, persistent finish.
