2020 Chianti Classico Riserva - Simple Marks Riserva

Borgo Scopeto, located in beautiful Tuscany, is known for its long wine tradition. The Chianti area achieved DOCG status in 1984, which has meant a significant improvement in the quality of the wine.

The estate, located near Castelnuovo Berardenga and just a few kilometers from Siena, was founded around the year 1000 and was originally owned by the Bishop of Siena. Since 1998, Caparzo, a well-known producer of Brunello, has been in charge of its management. The estate includes 37 hectares of vineyards with varieties such as Sangiovese, Cabernet, Syrah and Chardonnay.

Borgo Scopeto's Chianti Classico is made from Sangiovese grapes from Vagliagli and Castelnuovo Berardenga. The wine undergoes a fermentation process of approximately ten days and is then aged for at least 24 months, 12 of which are in Slavonian oak barrels. The wine is then aged for a further 3 months in bottle.

Chianti Classico Riserva presents a deep color and a complex aroma of cherries, plums, blackcurrants, mocha, chocolate, licorice, nutmeg and vanilla. The taste is full-bodied and spicy with a velvety texture and a solid tannin structure. The wine has a storage potential of 10-12 years and is an excellent choice for meat dishes such as duck, lamb, veal and game birds as well as milder cheeses.
