Villa Conchi Cava Imperial Reserva Extra Brut 2019

Villa Conchi, part of the Cava House, is located in Alt Penedès near Vila Rodona in Tarragona, Barcelona. Founded by Javier Ruiz de Galarreta of Araex Grands, which started in 1993, the company specializes in collecting and distributing wines from 14 different regions and 23 producers in Spain. Villa Conchi was created to include a sophisticated sparkling wine in their range and is named after Galarreta's mother.

Cava Extra Brut Imperial Reserva is a blend of 40% Xarel·lo, 30% Macabeo, 20% Parellada and 10% Chardonnay. The grapes are harvested manually at night to preserve their freshness. After harvesting, the grapes are cooled, pressed and fermented separately in steel tanks at 16 degrees. After the first fermentation, the wine is blended and undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle for at least 22 months.

The wine offers a fresh aroma with notes of gooseberry, lemon, lime and orange peel. The taste is dominated by lemon, green apples, mirabelle plums and lemon with a slightly bitter aftertaste. It has a chalky minerality, is fresh, lively and dry, and has achieved a score of 91 points. Perfect to accompany food rather than being served as an aperitif.
