Vega Sicilia Unico 2005 is an exquisite wine from the renowned Bodegas Vega Sicilia, located in Ribera del Duero. The vineyard, established in 1864, extends over 250 hectares and cultivates grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Tinto Fino, a clone of Tempranillo.
Vega Sicilia is renowned for its meticulous winemaking, which focuses on low yields and careful selection of grapes. The wine is matured in both new and used barrels, resulting in a harmonious taste without dominant wood notes.
The range includes Unico, the house's flagship, and Reserva Especial, a blend of the best vintages. Both wines consist of 80% Tinto Fino, supplemented with Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Merlot. Traditionally, these wines are aged for 10 years, but newer vintages are often bottled after 5-6 years. Valbuena is made from younger vines and is released after 5 years of aging.
