Tignanello Antinori IGT Tuscany 2014

Tignanello is a famous wine from Antinori, composed of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged for 16-18 months in both French and Hungarian oak barrels, adding depth and complexity.

It presents an intense aroma with notes of black cherries, blackberries, blackcurrants, rose hips, graphite, vanilla, cedar and toasted undertones. The palate is rich in ripe fruit, with complex spices, a soft tannin structure and a remarkable freshness.

Robert Parker has awarded this wine 96 points. The grapes come from a 57-hectare part of Tenuta Tignanello, which is located 390 meters above sea level. The wine is fermented in conical oak tanks and matured for up to 16 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels.

Piero Antinori introduced Tignanello in the 1970s to highlight the potential of Chianti Classico, with the assistance of Robert Mondavi, Emile Peynaud and Giacomo Tachis. Tignanello changed the game in Tuscany and inspired the creation of some of Italy's most acclaimed wines, known as "super Tuscans".
