Opus One Napa Valley California 2013

Opus One is a legendary wine from the United States, created in 1978 through a collaboration between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. This wine combines Bordeaux traditions with the unique terroir of Napa Valley.

Opus One has maintained its recognized status by striving for a cooler style than that typically seen in Napa Valley. The grapes are picked at night and irrigation is used to mimic the Bordeaux climate. About 300,000 bottles are produced annually.

The wine is composed of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot and 1% Malbec. The grapes are carefully handpicked and sorted, and the wine is aged for 17 months in new French oak barrels.
