Neil Ellis Whitehall Elgin Chardonnay 2022

Ellis' Whitehall Chardonnay is made from grapes from Elgin, where the vineyards are located on south-facing slopes that benefit from a cool climate. The soil, which is made up of quartz and sandstone, helps to create wines with elegance and crispness. The grapes are pressed using a vertical press, and only the first pressing is used. The must is fermented in 228 litre wooden barrels, 70% of which are 1-2 years old, while the rest are new. Approximately 20% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is then matured in the same French barrels for nine months.

Chardonnay Whitehall offers a delicate aroma with hints of vanilla, nectarines, lime and white peaches. The taste is fresh, crisp and elegant with an appealing fruity sweetness. The wine finishes with a combination of freshness, body and charming green notes. It is perfect for dishes with fish, shellfish, pasta or risotto with white meat.
