Dame de Trotte Vieille, formerly known as Vieille Dame de Trotte Vieille, is the second wine from Château Trotte Vieille, introduced in the early 2000s. The 2012 vintage is a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot, mainly from the youngest vines on the chateau's 12 hectares of vineyards. The wine undergoes a traditional fermentation process for four weeks in concrete tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation. It is aged for 18 months in French barriques (225 l.), of which 70% are new, as opposed to 100% for the first wine.

Dame de Trotte Vieille presents a beautiful, deep dark color. The aroma is intense and aromatic with fresh notes of cherries and raspberries from the Merlot, as well as more complex and deep tones of violets, plums, blackcurrants and a hint of dark chocolate from the Cabernet Franc. These characteristics are also reflected in the taste, which develops significantly with a little oxygenation, and where you can also sense the characteristic minerality of the castle.

The wine is ideal for serving with veal, beef or game, as well as with mature white cheeses. It is also a good match for warm, southern French vegetable dishes.
