Neil Ellis Guild Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Over the past 25 years, the South African wine industry has focused on establishing Cabernet Sauvignon as their leading grape variety.

Winemakers have strived to develop a more intense and ripe Cabernet, which now offers a rich flavor of dark fruits, spices, cedar and spicy undertones.

Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely grown red grape in South Africa. Wines are often produced with 100% Cabernet, but it is also popular to make Bordeaux-inspired blends or combine with Shiraz, as seen in Australia.

The earliest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in South Africa were planted in cooler areas, yielding a distinctive "green" flavor that has sparked debate among Cabernet enthusiasts for years.

South African Cabernet Sauvignon is reminiscent of many other full-bodied red wines and goes perfectly with dark meat, steaks and roasts.
