Château Haut-Brion Blanc Cru Classé 2015

Château Haut Brion was the pioneer in Bordeaux, as the first wine sold under a château name. The story begins in 1525 when Jean de Pontac received 5 hectares of vineyards as a dowry. His son, Arnaud, later inherited the château, which was bought by Joseph de Fumel, who was executed during the French Revolution. The modern era of Haut Brion began in 1935, when the American businessman Clarence Dillon acquired the château. Today, Domaines Clarences Dillon, which also owns La Mission Haut Brion and Quintus, is headed by Robert de Luxembourg. The Delmas family, who also worked at Cos d'Estournel, is responsible for the wine production. The château is famous for being the first in Bordeaux to produce wines with long aging potential by introducing longer aging periods and "top-ups" on the barrels. It is also believed that Château Haut Brion was the first to bottling château. The château has 50 hectares of vineyards, of which 3 hectares are dedicated to green grapes. Their white wine is a rare collector's item with only 500-600 cases available globally. The grapes are harvested at night to preserve acidity and reduce oxidation, and are carefully selected before pressing. This is one of the world's most exclusive white wines, in a class of its own.
