Borsaos Tres Picos 2018 - Spain

Tres Picos from Borsao is an excellent wine made exclusively from Garnacha grapes from the oldest vines in the vineyard. It is aged for five months in new French oak barrels. The wine presents a deep cherry red color and offers aromas of cherries, plums, flowers, caramel, tobacco and vanilla. The taste is full-bodied and well-balanced with spicy red fruit, moderate acidity and soft tannins that provide a harmonious finish. Tres Picos is an excellent choice for dishes such as roast duck, lamb and braised meats and should be served slightly chilled at a maximum of 16 degrees. It is suitable to be enjoyed now or within 10 years of harvest.

Ekstra Bladet gave the wine 90 points in March 2020 and described it as "a cool spicy style with lots of character. Blackberries, wild spices, herbs and a touch of vanilla on the palate. An exciting and well-made wine with impressive length."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate also awarded 90 points in February 2021, noting that it is "a light jammy garnacha with lots of fruit and a bit of chocolate. It is full-bodied with a slightly smoky undertone. Drink now."
