Sassicaia is one of the most acclaimed red wines from Italy and a pioneering force in the country’s winemaking. It was the first Italian wine to achieve a perfect score of 100 points in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and has received the prestigious Three Glasses award in Gambero Rosso a whopping 21 times. This iconic wine is produced at Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri, Tuscany, where the Guidalberto and Le Difese wines are also made. The winery has 148 hectares of vineyards.

It was Mario Incisa della Rochetta who in the 1940s began planting Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, inspired by the famous 1st Cru wines of Bordeaux, as the soil at Tenuta San Guido is reminiscent of that of Bordeaux. The vineyards are planted with 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, with original vines from the legendary Chateau Lafite Rothschild.
