Kend din vin-type: Er du en Barolo eller en Beaujolais? - DH Wines

Know your wine type: Are you a Barolo or a Beaujolais?

We know it well: wine is not just wine. It has personality. Style. Edge. Some wines are dark, deep and a little dramatic. Others are light, festive and approachable. So what if you were a wine? Which wine would you be?

Here you will get a fun little guide to finding your inner wine type – and maybe also understand a little more about what makes Barolo and Beaujolais (and their “personalities”) so different.

🍂 Barolo – the old soul with depth

You love structure. Things can take time. You value craftsmanship, tradition, and classic elegance. Your favorite scents might be leather, dried rose petals, and autumn woods. You may seem reserved at first glance—but those who get to know you know that there is complexity and warmth hidden within.

Barolo is made from the Nebbiolo grape from Piedmont in northern Italy. It's a wine that requires a little patience – and preferably food with juice and power. It's not the kind you open with Friday pizza. It's for slow enjoyment, deep conversations and meals you'll remember for a long time.

Are you Barolo? Then you're probably the type who'd rather be in a Tuscan vineyard than on a city dance floor. You love to be a little geeky. And you know how to pronounce "tannin."

🌸 Beaujolais – the light charmer

You are the type who spreads a good vibe. You are unpretentious, fun to be with – and always ready for a drink in good company. You don't take everything so seriously, and your notes would probably be described as “juicy cherry” and “a little bit of forest floor after rain, but in a good way”.

Beaujolais is made from the Gamay grape and comes from Burgundy – although it is often overlooked. It is light, bright, fresh and fruity. It is sometimes even served slightly chilled. It is a wine that says “come, let’s have fun”, rather than “let’s analyze the bouquet”.

Are you Beaujolais? Then you love spontaneous evenings, simple snacks and maybe surprising people with how much depth is actually hidden beneath your light surface.

🔀 So… what are you?

Most of us are probably a bit of both. Some days you have Barolo energy – introverted, deep, calm and thoughtful. Other days you are pure Beaujolais – easy to laugh at, ready for trouble and with a glass in hand before anyone can say “cheers”.

But the fun thing about wine is that it encompasses all sides. Maybe it's not about choosing – but about discovering. Which wines match your mood today? And which sides of yourself do you want to taste?
